Stockholm at the beginning of the twentieth century was a breeding ground for Nordic arts and culture, a movement that connected Scandinavian craftsmanship with a new sense of national pride. The S from Stockholm draws from that period: warm, refined, with the blue and yellow tones of the Swedish flag as its anchor. A design that celebrates tradition without becoming nostalgic.

Gallery Quality paper
At WIJCK. we attach great importance to the quality of our posters and we like to combine our sleek design with a touch of nostalgia! The paper we use contains a combination of recycled cotton and wood-free ingredients. In addition, the paper is FSC certified. With a subtle relief, the paper gives the poster a classic yet timeless look.
Biodegradable ink
In addition to using sustainable and high-quality paper, the inks we use in producing our posters are biodegradable. These are made from natural, plant-based ingredients that can be easily broken down without harming the environment. In addition, our ink remains colorfast much longer than the usual inks due to the natural base.
FSC Wooden frames
Our frames also have a sustainable character. The wood of our frames is sustainably obtained from Italy and contains an FSC quality mark, which stands for wood obtained from responsibly managed forests. The frames are provided with a matte black finish and processed by hand at our frame maker in Zoetermeer (NL). The frames can also be ordered separately without a poster.

Around 1900, Stockholm was at the center of a cultural movement that sought to present Sweden to the rest of Europe not as a remote Scandinavian outpost, but as a country with its own visual and artistic language. The Nordic arts and crafts movement, inspired by the British Arts and Crafts but shaped by a distinctly Swedish character, brought together painters, designers and craftsmen who believed that beauty should not be reserved for the elite.
Carl Larsson painted his warmly lit interiors. Bruno Liljefors captured Swedish nature on canvas. Museums were built in Stockholm to celebrate the national heritage. And throughout it all, there was that particular balance of calm and warmth that still defines Swedish design today.
The Swedish flag, blue with a yellow cross, has a color palette that may appear simple at first glance but is in fact remarkably nuanced. The blue is deep enough to feel grounded; the yellow is warm enough to avoid becoming cold. Together they form a palette that reflects a country capable of both melancholy and joy.
The S from Stockholm in the Typography Collection by WIJCK. brings these traditions together, the Nordic arts and culture aesthetic of around 1900 and the color language of the Swedish flag. The result is a design that feels both historical and contemporary.
