In the early twentieth century, the Polish capital had a rich Jugendstil culture, the Art Nouveau movement that sought beauty in organic forms and floral ornamentation. The W from Warsaw draws from that period: elegant, expressive, with the vitality of a city that has had to reinvent itself time and again.

Gallery Quality paper
At WIJCK. we attach great importance to the quality of our posters and we like to combine our sleek design with a touch of nostalgia! The paper we use contains a combination of recycled cotton and wood-free ingredients. In addition, the paper is FSC certified. With a subtle relief, the paper gives the poster a classic yet timeless look.
Biodegradable ink
In addition to using sustainable and high-quality paper, the inks we use in producing our posters are biodegradable. These are made from natural, plant-based ingredients that can be easily broken down without harming the environment. In addition, our ink remains colorfast much longer than the usual inks due to the natural base.
FSC Wooden frames
Our frames also have a sustainable character. The wood of our frames is sustainably obtained from Italy and contains an FSC quality mark, which stands for wood obtained from responsibly managed forests. The frames are provided with a matte black finish and processed by hand at our frame maker in Zoetermeer (NL). The frames can also be ordered separately without a poster.

Warsaw is one of the most resilient cities in Europe. During the Second World War, the city was almost completely destroyed, first during the Blitzkrieg, and later, after the Warsaw Uprising in 1944, systematically demolished by the Nazis. What stands today has been rebuilt, sometimes with remarkable accuracy, sometimes with a deliberate sense of change.
But before the war, Warsaw had a different identity: a cosmopolitan capital with a vibrant cultural life, a strong Jewish community, and an architectural tradition that fully embraced Jugendstil, the German-Austrian variant of Art Nouveau.
Jugendstil is the style of organic ornament, facades that bloom, staircases that flow, doors that invite. It is a style rooted in the belief that beauty belongs in the everyday, in a doorknob, in a facade detail, in the lettering on a poster. Before the war, Warsaw had this in abundance.
The W from Warsaw in the Typography Collection by WIJCK. draws from that legacy. The typography carries the elegance of Jugendstil, not heavy, but richly expressive. It is a design that pays tribute to a cultural period that was nearly lost, yet continues to exist in memory.
